With the help of business leaders from our city, we were able to bring the concept of Crimestoppers to Fayetteville / Cumberland County in late 1984. Since the original Crimestoppers' meeting at the home of Fritz Healy, the program has successfully grown beyond our expectations. Since its inception, we have provided information resulting in the arrest of more than 3,108 felons and recovered more than $6.7 million in property and narcotics and have paid out over $312,000.00 in rewards. We owe our success to the many citizens & businesses whom have volunteered their time and money to this productive program. The City of Fayetteville also has provided a full-time investigator, along with staff support to manage the program. In addition, since the inception of the program, the city has contributed $3,000 per year to facilitate rewards.
Thank you, everyone.

How Does Crimestoppers Work?
Citizens are asked to call Crimestoppers at 483-TIPS (8477) or toll free 866-542-TIPS (8477) if they have information regarding criminal activity. This number is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is designated for Crimestoppers information only. All Calls are kept in complete confidence. If the information you provide leads to an arrest, you can receive a reward, as determined by a citizen board, of as much as $1000. The amount of the reward varies, depending upon factors such as the information given, the nature of the crime committed and the value of any property or narcotics seized. Also, Crimestoppers pays cash rewards for any information that results in the arrest of fugitives from justice or anyone committing a felony or serious misdemeanor.
Crimestoppers is a proven method of solving crimes and is instrumental in the recovery of millions of dollars worth of stolen merchandise and narcotics. The success of the program depends on citizen support, either by donations or by providing information. Your involvement in Crimestoppers will make our community a safer place to live.
